Sutton Harbour launches marina recycling scheme.
Berth holders and yachtsmen visiting Sutton Harbour Marina are being encouraged to extend their recycling to when they’re alongside or on the water with the launch of Plymouth’s first marina recycling scheme.
Eye-catching branded re-useable recycling bags are soon to become the ‘must have’ accessory aboard vessels visiting Sutton Harbour Marina as sailors are being asked to separate waste onboard before placing the recyclable materials into recycling bins provided on the marina.
The recycling scheme has been introduced at Sutton Harbour Marina as part of the National Maritime Recycling scheme which has been led by the Kingsbridge based company Stirling Consultants UK Ltd, which have led the way in establishing recycling solutions within 25 ports, harbours and marinas across the UK.
Mark Brimacombe, Marina Manager is pleased to see the new scheme being quickly adopted by berth holders and visiting craft, he said: “Many people now routinely recycle at home because they appreciate the importance of helping the environment by reducing landfill. Our new recycling scheme enables marina users to keep up their good green habits whilst they’re away from their homes."
“The special black cloth bags have received a great reception from our berth holders and I’m delighted that Sutton Harbour is playing a role in promoting recycling in the city.”
Stephen Tooke of Stirling Consultants UK Ltd said: “We are proud to welcome Sutton Harbour Marina as a member of the National Maritime Recycling Scheme. I am sure that berth holders will find the bags and recycling bins a valuable addition to the services offered at Sutton Harbour whilst helping the marina to attract eco-conscious sailors.”
