This years The 18th National Fireworks Championships promise to be better and bigger than before with six of the UK’s largest award-winning pyrotechnic firms preparing for multi-coloured head-to-head from Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 August.

Organised by Plymouth City Council, nearly 5 tonnes of fireworks will light up the dusky skies of Plymouth Sound over the heads of thousands of onlookers. Each evening is scheduled to begin at around 9.30pm.

The companies taking part this year will be, on the Tuesday, Shellscape from Maidenhead in Berkshire, Blitz Fireworks from Crewe in Cheshire and then Northern Lights Fireworks from Trowbridge in Wiltshire.

On the Wednesday, PYRO 1 from Hatfield in Hertfordshire, Reaction Fireworks from Stanley in County Durham and then MLE Pyrotechnics from Daventry in Northants.
