Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August
A new celebration of local arts will be launching at Sutton Harbour this weekend. Artists and craft makers have joined together to form their own cooperative and have chosen Sutton Harbour’s Pinnacle Quay as their exhibition space.
The group aims to exhibit and sell affordable art from local artists. The first of the monthly events will take place at Pinnacle Quay, Sutton Harbour, from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th August.
With new artists joining every day, the selection of inspiring crafts and works of art looks extensive.
Exhibitors this month will include illustrator and photographer Luchia Pike with Ullu Art. Luchia explored the conscious/subconscious of the human body and it's thought and perception processes within her painting, writing, drawing and sculpture.
Louise S.A. Allen will display and sell her work Everyday Wonders. Louise collects and up-cycles everything from buttons, stones, paper and fabrics to make hand crafted artwork and objects – as well as her increasingly popular Wonderboxes; hand collected objects in boxes that will prove to be treasure to any creative personalities.
Other artists include handcrafted jewellery makers Cathy Stanley with her collection of gemstone jewellery on precious metals including macramé bracelets for children and bridal wear, Rowena Brooking with her jewellery inspired by her mother’s South American upbringing, Organiser Yvonne Rainer with colourful canvas paintings that have a textured 3d effect and Photographer Russell Soper with framed and canvas prints.
Other crafts that will be on show for visitors will include paper flowers, crochet, knitting and woodturning.
